Meet Cara

Cara has been married to her best friend for the past 17 years and they have been blessed with 3 children together who all attend Maui public schools (elementary, middle and high school). Being a part of our wonderful Maui community is such a great honor and joy. Maui is full of some amazing people.

Cara began living independently (without parental support) at age 16 and took custody of one of her younger siblings at age 18. Realizing the importance of secure housing Cara was very motivated to try and purchase her first home at age 18. She also put herself through college. Cara graduated with an Engineering degree from the University of North Texas after taking a very rigorous course load (while simultaneously working many hours). Through a lot of struggle, and life experience, Cara has learned, that what many people who are struggling need is a lot of grace, compassion, encouragement and opportunity. People need hope for a better future and many times that begins with kindness and opportunity. Cara has relied on the kindness and goodness of community members many times in her own life and that is part of what motivates her to serve others. Cara believes in “being the change you want to see in the world” and has witnessed many times that it truly works.
